Seaworld Orlando Florida

SeaWorld Orlando Overview

Did you know that the SeaWorld Orlando parks collectively make up the 10th most visited amusement park in the U.S.? Part theme park and part marine-life based zoological park, it’s made up of three areas: SeaWorld proper, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove.

You’ll enter SeaWorld Orlando through a Florida-inspired themed area that includes lush, tropical landscaping and a huge freshwater marine with a twinkling lighthouse. Beyond the port of entry you’ll have numerous lands to explore.

Sea of Shallow

The main shallow water animal exhibits and Dolphin Theater are both located in the Sea of Shallow. You’ll also find the Mantra rollercoaster and Turtle Trek, a show that takes place in a domed theater. This area is themed after Key West, Florida and features landscaping and architecture native to that area of Florida. The animals you’ll find in this area include:

  • Green sea turtles
  • Loggerhead sea turtles
  • Greater flamingos
  • American alligators
  • Brown pelicans
  • Southern stingrays
  • Hawksbill sea turtles
  • Atlantic bottlenose dolphins
  • West Indian manatees

Sea of Legends

Dedicated to mysterious myths, you’ll find Journey to the Atlantis in the Sea of Legends, as well as the suspended roller coaster Kraken.

Sea of Ice

Formerly known as Antarctica, you’ll find Antarctica: Empire, a dark ride that ends in the penguin exhibit.

Sea of Delight

Within Sea of Delight you’ll see a sub-area called The Waterfront, which is themed off a seaside Mediterranean village. This area includes most of the restaurants in the park, plus a pearl dive exhibit. Outside of the Waterfront you’ll find the Sea Lion and Otter Stadium, Sea Lion viewing area, and Pets Ahoy, the only land animal show in the park

Sea of Mystery

Come visit sharks in the underwater viewing area, or head over to the Nautilus Theater for a Cirque du Soleil style show.

Sea of Fun

Formerly known as Shamu’s Happy Harbor, this children’s area is hosted by Shamu. It’s right next to Shamu Stadium and has tons of family activities, like a junior roller coaster, water play area, and net climbing structure.

Sea of Power

Here you’ll find all the iconic killer whale shows, plus exciting motion simulator rides, and a Polar Express Experience during the holiday season.

Aquatica

This sister park is themed after the Southern Pacific and includes a wide array of water rides and attractions for people of all swimming abilities and ages. There are two wave pools, an incredible 80,000 square foot white sand beach, sun beds, umbrellas, and tons of rides:

  • Dolphin Plunge. Arguably the most popular attraction in the park, Dolphin Plunge features two tube slides that pass through a pool that has a real pod of dolphins.
  • Ihu’s Breakway Falls. This drop pod style body slide is brand new for 2014.
  • Taumata Racer. An 8-lane racing slide allows guests to slide down on mats through sections that are both open and closed.
  • Whanau Way. Hop on this tower with 4 double-raft slides.
  • Tassie’s Twisters. This pair of funnel slides can be ridden solo or as double rafts.
  • Omaka Rocka. The newest ride in the park, here rafts carry you through slide segments that make you feel you’re in the middle of a tornado.
  • Walhalla Wave. Twist through this enclosed slide with pitch-dark segments.
  • HooRoo Run. This ride shares a tower with Walhalla Wave and is a short, fast, triple-dip slide.
  • Roa’s Rapids. If you love the lazy river but wish it were faster, you’ll love this more aggressive version with speed zones, center islands, and geysers.
  • Loggerhead Lanes. This is the more traditional lazy river experience, which passes through the dolphin exhibit.
  • Cutback Cove and Bug Surf Shores. Two wave pools allow you to choose whether you’d prefer stronger waves or gentler, rolling waves.
  • Children’s centers. There are several children’s areas with smaller slides and play areas created just for the kids.

Discovery Cove

If you’ve ever wanted to visit a real coral reef, Discovery Cove is the place you want to visit. Use the snorkeling gear the park supplies and interact with thousands upon thousands of aquatic creatures, including fish and sting rays.
